    @foreverthankful They typically charge several hundred dollars an hour, and are not obliged to come up with the right answer. No one in their right mind is going to fork over $500 for this. Worth a try, I guess, but the last time I tried to speak to the accountants here was not a pleasant...

    @foreverthankful It's easy to say "consult a tax professional". Where does one conveniently find such a tax professional? My bet is that the neighborhood H.R Block guy hasn't the foggiest idea about this stuff.

    This is due to my being outside the U.S. for most of the year. My question is, if I take it, will that disqualify me from the tax credit offered for Obamacare? I can maintain residency (NC) without living here, but if I don't take the foreign residency tax credit, then I am banned from using it...
