Am I allowed to do that?

@asyaphari I'm qualified in Islamic finance and haven't heard of that being allowed. The not paying for stuff when not using it is not fun but part of the deal when buying something for a year. If I buy a season travel card, it's cost equivalent of 10.5 months instead of 12 monthly ones....but...

    Advise on my investments (noob)

@swhnly65 It doesn't matter if gatehouse used the word interest. Islamic finance cares about substance over form and hence reviewing what gatehouse does would not constitute riba. Difficult to get around exposure to hsbc Islamic indexes but have you looked into Wahed?

    Zakat

@cinemike The consensus is actually paying that much on 25-30% on the value of stocks. It comes from the fact you pay Zakat on zakatable assets and not everything on the balance sheet the company has is zakatable. The percentage has been made by scholars/people involved in Islamic finance as a...

    Zakat

@hoang25mai Separate calculations for stocks as they're not all zakatable assets. Usually you pay 2.5% on 25% of the value.

    S&P 500 vs S&P500 shariah

@sb_ It's difficult to say because they're different companies. The best way to compare it is with an equivalent index already made such as hsbc Islamic equity index . You can see the companies and they're very similar, you can see the growth as well. But also some views exclude companies...
