[[Pennsylvania]] self employment v unemployment Q?

@sfonoti You actually did everything right (aside from trying to get paid under the table, LOL). While Brock is correct that you are supposed to report hours as you work them, not when you get paid, that is not possible in this type of position (I was a legal recruiter previously) because you...

[California]HR moving me from payroll A to payroll B. Both will be out of business in less than 3 months

@dalegm All of your base period employers are considered, so it should not matter at all. EDD benefits suck, so start job hunting now! Good Luck to you.

[[Pennsylvania]] self employment v unemployment Q?

@hogstar exactly. I think OP should be okay. I worked as a recruiter before and it is pretty standard to randomly work a few hours or at off times and just get lucky and place someone and make a decent fee.

[New Jersey] Got approved for NJ unemployment for only 7 weeks? Claim status says 26 weeks

@vlavender That is exactly what I am trying to figure out. How do you collect benefits 11 months ago and have a new claim now?

[California] How do I report my hourly if I make tips?

@holoman When you apply, then you can just put your base pay because the state computes your weekly benefit amount based on your past wages. If you are working PT and collecting, then you need to do your best to report anything you made, during the week you earned it.

    [Michigan] Filing for unemployment

@mamastitch You should be fine. They should just dismiss the appeal on the grounds there is no issue detrimental to you. Therefore, no appealable issue.

[California] 2 part time jobs. Was abruptly laid off for 1 job.

@vanesagroza Yes, file for UI and only tell them that you were laid off due to business slowdown. The rest of the stuff will not help you unless the employer turns around and claims misconduct - then you can offer that other info. Talk to a lawyer about sexual harassment. Back in the day...

[ILLINOIS] TWO letters same day first UI finding then Corrected determination letter? confused am I approved?

@dannypham123212 It says you are disqualified until November 19, 2022. If you are approved from this last job, that would be starting after 11/19/22. Now, you just need them to approve you from 11/19/22 going forward based on this last (seemingly qualifying) job separation. If you appeal, you...

[New York] Can I be denied unemployment for not going into the office?

@photomanpianoplayer Did you only go a few times last year or did you go at least once a month, each month? If the contract says nothing and you have been remote for a long time and they didn't say anything, you should be approved if that is the reason they give UI. You need to have the...

[New York] Terminated before last shift

@sandcastle91 Sounds right. So, you need to submit documentation that you tried to resolve the issue prior to quitting. If you have that, you will win. If you don't you will likely lose.

[COLORADO] Employer Appealing UI Decision. Odds I Win?

@prudence21 wonderful! I am happy for you. CO is very hard, you must have done every thing right!

[COLORADO] Employer Appealing UI Decision. Odds I Win?

@prudence21 You need to carefully read the packet for the hearing. The claims examiner ruled in your favor before, so you need to focus on whatever it is that they relied upon. Quitting for mental and physical health problems will usually get you DQd in the beginning unless you show you tried...

[Pennsylvania] Will I qualify if I voluntary quit due to my job refusing pregnancy accommodations/forcing leave?

@cristo then make then fire you but if they force you onto an unpaid leave, I would be surprised if that is disqualifying. If you request a LOA, I could understand.

[California] Got 1 day of contract work. Can I continue to certify for benefits in the weeks following?

@mousa If you can call, do. Sometimes you can explain it was just a one day job and it will keep your claim from being on hold for too long.

[west virginia] please give some advice

@hm36 If they had fired you, you might have a chance if you could demonstrate you got fired from that job but you could do another job for which you have been trained to do. But when you can't do the job you currently have and they are willing to hold the job for you, then you don't really have...

[New York] Charged $1000 for unemplyment insurance when i havent been unemployed for years.

@pageturner This likely has nothing to do with the IRS. This is a simple overpayment that stems from your pandemic era claim. Top four causes: You never verified your identity, you did not send proof of employment from 2020 (if PUA), you misreported your earnings and received benefits to...

[Pennsylvania] Will I qualify if I voluntary quit due to my job refusing pregnancy accommodations/forcing leave?

@cristo I am confused. If they offer you unpaid leave, why would you then quit? Go on leave and collect your UI. If you quit one of the first questions will be, "Why didn't you ask for a LOA to try to protect your job?"

[New York] Does my GF qualify for unemployment?

@moriahjbk She has to be willing to accept a different assignment from the agency that pays her. If they don't have something for her, she should qualify. Then they should be willing to move her back to the uncle. This is a rather common situation.
