Something you do ‘right’ that’s ’wrong’?

@crucifiedxlikexjesus You joke, but I actually did get torn apart for saying that once.

Something you do ‘right’ that’s ’wrong’?

@jesussaves7763 I save less in my 401K than I should (8% vs the recommended 15%). I have guaranteed retirement income at around six figures per year, so I choose to put the difference in index funds and a house down payment fund instead.

    Buying a car?

@fullmoon Why not something like a Crosstrek? My partner has a new 2024 Sport and it was $30,000. You could get a base or limited model for much less.

    Buying a car?

@miyme Used js barely cheaper anymore. We looked at a 2021 Crosstrek premium with 11,000 miles vs a 2024 Crosstrek Sport and it was $2,000 cheaper for the 2021. The warrenty alone made it worth buying new.

Maybe it gets you more in your area, who knows! There literally is a dealership next to me where they have all...

    Buying a car?

@mellie You aren’t getting much for $15,000 these days. A 3-5 year old car for less than $15,000 literally doesn’t even exist where I am. The newest year car I could buy for $15K is a 2018, has almost 100,000 miles, and has been in an accident.

Add to retirement or save for a car?

@koval Just checked out some of those options where I’m located. The cheapest were a 2004 Miata, a 2013 Outback, a 2015 civic, and a 2015 Corolla. Even at the cheapest, not a single listed at or under $9,000. I also have a dealership down the street. The absolute cheapest vehicle they even have...

Add to retirement or save for a car?

@koval A reliable car for under $9,000? That seems like a real stretch in this used car market. That would maybe get me a 2001 Buick La Sabre with 200,000 miles.
