    @zealotx What if I already have a big amount in FDs as debt? Does it still make sense to invest in PPF over ELSS for 80C?

    @atgeki That's bad news even though I only contribute the bare minimum (1800/- I think) every month.

    @chas4all My loan interest rate is 6.7%, while my investments will be at 12% on average. This is the reason why I pay less EMI and invest the rest. I understand I'm paying more interest this way but then again, I claim it under tax deductions. As for home loan, I am not sure which city I will...

    @chas4all I do have an education loan but I keep the EMI low for tax savings purposes. Not sure if paying more interest is worth the tax savings

    @resjudicata Isn't putting that same 1.5L in an ELSS a better plan for the long term future? Genuine question coz I'm in the same boat and have wondered about this.
