I was told that I retained access to the funds in my universal life insurance policy, but that's not true

@wasumaad Did Florida respond to your inquiry in any way? Do you still retain proof of the misinformation, in writing, from the agent?

    International life insurance

@freethinkerwwjd What you are describing you want is term insurance. Unfortunately when you disclose your travel many companies may decide you are not insurable. If you lie on the application the company could use that for grounds to deny any claim.

Received a letter from an insurance company regarding possibly being a beneficiary and not sure if it's legit

@nathan_r Life insurance passes outside of probate (unless the estate is a beneficiary) so insurers work directly with the beneficiaries.

Potential Life Insurance options for my Father (65) recently placed in Assisted Living

@quixote23 Why stay away from whole life? If you bought a GI policy - it would be whole life. To be blunt: You need to treat this like a business decision. Determine your father’s life expectancy, figure out costs moving forward of maintaining the existing policies, figure out the costs of new...

Received a letter from an insurance company regarding possibly being a beneficiary and not sure if it's legit

@seeker747 Insurance benefits pass outside of probate.

    Advice needed:

@columbia1990 I can’t tell if your agent is confused or you’re confused but term policies don’t normally have the ability to pull money from them. That more accurately describes whole life. Think of term like renting an apartment. In a lease, you pay a rent for a set amount of time and at the...

Received a letter from an insurance company regarding possibly being a beneficiary and not sure if it's legit

@seeker747 Call the company by looking up their number independently. Then verify everything with them directly. Insurers have an obligation to pay claims to their rightful owners/beneficiaries. As such they try to find the rightful beneficiary. They have all kinds of tools through companies...

Potential Life Insurance options for my Father (65) recently placed in Assisted Living

@quixote23 Based on his situation, new coverage is out of the question, except for Guaranteed Issue options.

Need advice on moving forward or not with this offered IUL

@jeshurun1111 My thinking: With DBO 2, the net amount at risk (NAR) is fixed so every year the COIs are 269 x COI. So in the example above the year 20 costs are 269 x Age 57 COI. With DBO 1 the calculation would be 39 x Age 57 COI and that really gets magnified in later years. (I used the...

Finding a life insurance policy on a deceased loved one w/o knowing what life insurance company insured them

@devonboy MIB.com has a paid service similar to a the NAIC service. It’s probably better. Chances are you mom had coverage the same company your dad did if you know that company. Bank statements will help with identifying where she was making premium payments.

Need advice on moving forward or not with this offered IUL

@missmae Yes. I suggested you ask for an additional different illustration. You can ask your agent for exactly what I wrote. The level death benefit will increase the cash value accumulation but the death benefit will not grow like the illustrations you provided. There isn’t a wrong or right...

Rejected for life insurance due to elevated AST...should I even bother applying elsewhere or wait?

@xajmaht1 Have you seen your full labs? Was your HDL high, how about GGT, did they run a CDT or HAA. Have you had a DUI or other addiction history? Something isn’t adding up or that company is really conservative. AST>ALT is suspicious for alcohol but those aren’t declinable levels. I would...

Need advice on moving forward or not with this offered IUL

@missmae If accumulation is important. Ask them to show you an illustration with the death benefit level and a max-blended supplemental coverage rider.

    Choosing among payout options

@orma32 Option 1 is a convenience if the plans for the money aren’t immediate or if the interest rate is better than a savings account (1% or better these days) then leaving it there is fine. Otherwise take option 2.

    Reinstalling Life Insurance

@amanda_forjesus Don’t apply for reinstatement just yet. Your are effectively conceding the point that there was an appropriate lapse. Whether or not you win the argument will depend on their contractual obligation. If they were contractually obligated to send you a grace notice within 30...

My best friend’s grandma’s life insurance won’t pay out

@sunshine27 If this is the US that should not be true. The money may have been escheated to the state of issue as unclaimed funds but insurance companies don’t get to keep unclaimed benefits. There has been a lot of activities on this in almost all states over the last 5-10 years. Check the...

    Reinstalling Life Insurance

@amanda_forjesus Send them a letter and request an explanation in writing. If that doesn’t get you information. Then file a complaint with the your state’s department of insurance. Be sure to explain the number of ways you’ve tried to seek resolution before reaching out to them.

    Life Insurance Help

@tass Some murmurs are very benign and insurable at standard or better rates. Some murmurs have more serious underlying problems that cost more to insure. A recent echocardiogram will also help underwriters to feel better about your heart. What is your underlying condition?

    Reinstalling Life Insurance

@amanda_forjesus Sounds like whole life if the coverage is continuing after the lapse. Something is off with the timeline. Only a representative at the company can help you figure it out. The correct term is reinstatement. That will help you on your call.
