    I don't like the 4% rule for retirements because the effect of inflation is enormous as is the effect of pre-retirement rate of return and post-retirement rate of return as well as the age you expect to live to. So I set about creating my own excel sheet to check out different scenarios...

    @rennamo Don't worry about the past, you should look to the future :) My point was to include some equity in your portfolio, so that a portion of it beats inflation.

For such stocks timing is very important because as it is they will have low liquidity, so by the time you see a new stock its price would have already risen.
