Different flavours of the FTSE GLOBAL ALL CAP - VWRL.(L|P|Z|AM)?

@mickyd1961 Yes (although depends who’s asking as certain news services use other indicators!).

Different flavours of the FTSE GLOBAL ALL CAP - VWRL.(L|P|Z|AM)?

@mickyd1961 Essentially, the same fund is traded on different stock markets. VWRL.L is traded on the London Stock Exchange, VWRL.Z is traded in Zurich, VWRL.AM is traded in Amsterdam that kind of thing. If you get the ISIN for each one, you can find out more details.

OK boomer - House prices have doubled as a proportion of salary since 1970

@resjudicata Perhaps from a pure data and statistics perspective, that is true. I am speaking from a personal finance perspective (given the sub), where the predominant inquiry people have of this kind of information is: "is where I live going to be affordable for me or not - and how has that...

OK boomer - House prices have doubled as a proportion of salary since 1970

@californiachristian234 Indeed - the hyper local aspect of residential property does limit the use of broad brush analyses to determine affordability. I think the main point is that if you are looking at whether you can afford to live in a place, or want to know how expensive it is, you really...

OK boomer - House prices have doubled as a proportion of salary since 1970

@barbarajean63 Residential property is hyper-local - broad "average UK" measures don't really serve much financial purpose, more of a political one: especially as there is that quite big, obvious, market which might distort things for those not there! Do you have data on a more regional level -...

Struggling to understand market bond funds - what would it take to raise their value

@wendy1990 Cuts in prevailing interest rates (and here in the US) are the predominant factor on pricing usually.

Planning for the next 5 years - at 30 y/o

@jaymsw You did not mention a timeframe. For instance in 2019 the S&P 500 rose 30%. Obviously you can cherry pick dates to flatter things - the main return you get from your property is going to be through the leverage tbh. The reason it's popular is that most retail investors find it...

How good is /r/ukpersonalfinance at predicting interest rates: a retrospective

@christian2018 /@uriel_1? Fuck that guy, what a nerd My only prediction was Andrew Bailey sucks and so does the MPC Now do the other UKPF cycles: p2p lending, crypto, options, swapping bank accounts for sign ups

Planning for the next 5 years - at 30 y/o

@jaymsw You should not look at your property as a financial investment in that sense because it does not have the quality of investment: entry/exit point, rational determination of allocation (you aren't going to sell it to move to a shithole just because you can get a better return), and...

Planning for the next 5 years - at 30 y/o

@jaymsw You talk about your investments, but your questions are about expenditure, so just to be clear, are you actually asking: "what is the best way to buy my new house"? Your options are equity or debt. So, what is the goal of your portfolio at the moment? You have a £400k property, £37k...

Transfer cash from E*TRADE NYSE to U.K. bank account

@dav7dhero7j7sus Talk to an FX broker and get a quote - shop around. You have the usuals like Transferwise and Currencyfair, but for 6 figures, you want to look at other brokers too: have a look at Thomas Exchange Global, HiFX and Worldfirst.

How does tax work when providing liquidity to DeFi pools?

@jodiw Not the personal savings allowance unless the staking is in the nature of interest and you are open to arguing with HMRC in Tribunal about the nature of interest, but you can put it into the trading and miscellaneous £1k allowance (although HMRC might argue it comes under "annual...

Can I claim U.C or J.S.A while living in an EU country?

@irishfn1 No, you need to be present in Great Britain to claim UC (apart from very small edge cases which don't apply here).

Moving money back to the U.K. but don’t live there. What taxes can I be charged?

@katewow There would be no taxes from the UK side, so only issues with any withholding tax from the domicile of the estate (if any) and your current state of tax residence.

Moving money back to the U.K. but don’t live there. What taxes can I be charged?

@katewow This would be a matter for your current state of residence and perhaps the domicile of the estate, not the UK.

    L&G Pension Fund Choice

@orientalorthodox If they will never look at it, nor have no concept of what it means, then frankly, you should not get involved and leave them with the default. You don't want to get sued by your friend later down the line when the fund you recommended doesn't perform as well as you claimed it...

    L&G Pension Fund Choice

@orientalorthodox It would be irresponsible to give a recommendation without knowing: what your friend's overall retirement provision is his risk tolerance - emotional and in terms of required returns whether he understands what he is doing with investment Tell your friend to choose nothing...
