    @kabriana You can go from zero to paid coder in 6 months, if you have the aptitude. A colleague's wife left teaching and did this. Beginner jobs pay R25k and up. If you have to work for yourself, there are places like upwork and fiverr. Good luck.

    @elown I think the logic is that if winnings can be taxed, losses can be used to reduce your tax liability, which SARS dont want. You're more likely to lose than win, so it's not in their best interest. The betting company will need to pay tax on their profits though.

    @ilovetaterzzz At around 10% they are going to lose most, if not all, of their customers. What I hope they don't do, is say it was a mistake but not pay back those who don't complain.

    @geekgrl76 The only real tax deduction you're getting will be with an RA/Pension. Obviously max out your tax free (world etf) and then, honestly, invest offshore for your taxable/discretionary funds. Edit: from what I been told, over the long term the currency weakening offsets the exchange rate...
