ETF choice (world index - accumulating - fee max 0.25)

@tobiahjude99 Exactly my point! :)) Yeah auto invest is nice, but I am not sure if its such a hustle….manually converting is like what, 1-2CHF? Times 12 months is really nothing. And than I have time to see what the market does and if I should buy or maybe hold 1-2 days… Now I didnt get it...

ETF choice (world index - accumulating - fee max 0.25)

@tobiahjude99 Thats what I mean, you cannot set IBKR to buy in USD for how much CHF you want. For example I transfer 3k CHF every month to IB. I set auto invest to 1k CHF to the 3 ETFs I have in USD. IB converts the CHF to the current exchange rate of USD and invests the full amount -fees. You...

ETF choice (world index - accumulating - fee max 0.25)

@tobiahjude99 Dont forget auto invest only works in the currency you are buying. If it is a USD fund, you have to set auto purchase in USD and not CHF. You will always have an amount of CHF in your IBKR

Looking for advice on what to do with 300K CHF

@ryno13 While true if you live in it and badly wanted your own place, there is a calculator on moneyland buying vs renting your place where you can see that it does not make sense to buy. If you put the downpayment into a ETF and keep it there, you will make much more money even with real...

    Feedback New ETF Portfolio

@johnstead Personally I am not hedging anything. What for? The CHF will always be stronger on the long run, but dont forget that these cycles come and go….the FED finished up on their interest rates/charges -> the rest of the world did not. Thats why the USD is super weak currently. Since you...

Why do many in this thread choose VT over VTI or VOO or IVV?

@violet181 What a dumb statement, but fits you style. Who is not looking at arbitrary years? And still, if you put it all in one basket, the US outperformed everything….congratulations, you played yourself. If I knew which stocks would go up, I wouldnt be here with you….. Edit: I am up over...

Why do many in this thread choose VT over VTI or VOO or IVV?

@violet181 I am not looking at any arbitrary window, those are facts. Or do you want to compare how VT and similar ETFs recovered better than the ones that are really in the market where the 2008/2009 crash happened? Flawed logic from holy grail yes sayers. What does your diversification bring...

Why do many in this thread choose VT over VTI or VOO or IVV?

@buddymiller No one knows the future, but I am more risk averse and would love to take the % with me instead of a medium % of swiss companies. It makes no sense to be so conservative if your time horizon is 20+ years….no matter ehat you believe in. Did you ever check in what VT invest (what...

Why do many in this thread choose VT over VTI or VOO or IVV?

@pkumom2016 I am all on US and bet on the fact the US will outperform the rest. Most people you see in VT are just people Who have no idea and follow the mass - „holy grail culture“. Which is pure BS. Why around 99% told me NOT to do that and how the VT is so much better and am Diversified...

Started investing in ETFs with neon bank but thinking to switch to degiro or IBKR

@marymadeleine Mustachian does what fits his needs - its not a rule book to follow. IF you transfer CHF to IBKR and purchase in USD, the conversion costs ca. 2 USD (depends of normal account or pro). A purchase of stocks/ETFs is around 0.33 to 0.35 per purchase…so very low :) When you...

Started investing in ETFs with neon bank but thinking to switch to degiro or IBKR

@marymadeleine Relativ low fees? I dont know, but it seems you have not done any kind of math…. Please go to VIAC, and use their calculator (its the one that came to my mind first) to see what differences fees can do to you. Then come back here again and ask for a referral code for IBKR 🤣

    Why a Swiss broker?

@mythicangel516 IB has a residence in CH - so they dont auto report your holdings to authorities. We still have no auto reporting within Switzerland between authorities and banks/brokers. IB falls also under that. If your scc is with IB in the US - then yeah, they d report it to swiss...

    Portfolio protection

@tef85 You csn hedge against your portolio….but it makes not much sense in those amounts we are talking about. E.g. investing into IVV and at the same time buying puts on it wirh expiry 2025 for example. Rinse and repeat. Does it make sense? Sometimes. Can you do it? Yes. Would I recommend...
