What's a personal finance tip or hack that should be common knowledge but isn't?

@hesmylordalways You neither get good insurance, nor good returns. Good for the agent and policy issuer but bad for you. Better to keep them seperate. The detailed explanation here: https://www.valueresearchonline.com/stories/9261/do-not-mix-insurance-and-investment/

@pda543 One of my friend asked me too. I told him to directly take whatever comission he was getting. Never bugged me after that.

@rezene Never mix insurance and investment. Not a hack, not a tip, but should be common knowledge.

Selecting a bank account and advantages /disadvantages of the same

@cn17 Actually that's not the case with every small bank. If you look at banks like Equitas, it's terrible. btw how's your experience with RBL as a whole?

Selecting a bank account and advantages /disadvantages of the same

@heliumskylark ICICI is quite crap in this aspect. The RMs keep trying to scam you by mis-selling ULIPs and shitty endowment plans. I've seen many known people getting mis-sold crap policies, thankfully I got them cancelled within the freelook period.

Selecting a bank account and advantages /disadvantages of the same

@cn17 Contrary to your experience, ICICI bank has better mobile and NetBanking than Kotak. I have a Kotak 811 account and I've seen it down several times. In fact, Kotak app is down as I write this. IDFC, too, has a very good online banking experience.
