Indiamart buying back its stock at a 37% premium over market price. A fun read to understand why

@lilly159 If this were true, you have again described a money making machine which magically creates Rs 500 Cr out of nowhere. Calling 500 Cr a 'small' amount does not change that fact at all. Yes, share price is a mathematical sum of current assets and discounted future earnings of the...

Indiamart buying back its stock at a 37% premium over market price. A fun read to understand why

@lilly159 No, this argument is wrong. You are assuming that the market price of remaining shares will be the same, regardless of the price of buyback, which is totally incorrect. (Otherwise you have essentially described a money-making machine where every shareholder is magically better off...

Indiamart buying back its stock at a 37% premium over market price. A fun read to understand why

@lilly159 How are they making more money? They would make exactly the same money if (for ex) the company bought back 100 shares at Rs 50 each, or or 50 shares at Rs 100 each. They would still get 50% = 2500. Nothing that you have written provides any rationale for why they would get more money.

@seekinghispresence Source for this claim, sir? In FY23, inflation was 6.7%, and real GDP growth 6.9%. Combining these results, a tax increase of 12% from a year ago actually shows a reduction in tax collecting efficiency.

Adani Group: How The World’s 3rd Richest Man Is Pulling The Largest Con In Corporate History (Hindenburg Research)

@duragrip If its weightage is only ~2%, then the 1.61% fall was mainly due to other factors, not Adani. Looks like Reliance and banks fell a lot? Any idea why?

I wrote some tax saving measures for every class of salaried employee other than 80C deductions. I'd love your feedback

@quittercheckusa So there is no clubbing if a person opens an FD in his parents' name? Or if a parent opens an FD in major son's name?
